What is Video Marketing?

Video Marketing is a simple way to promote or market your brand, product or service. According to Frozen Fire, video will boost conversion rates. Videos can be used for showing and promoting products and services on commercial websites.Videos can be quite effective by combining visual and audio which will make it powerful.

#1 MINI Irish Roadtrip

I chose this advert as it was defiantly one of my favourite Irish adverts to date. Four Irish lads from Cork decided to test drive a MINI and set off on a four-day roadtrip around Ireland starting in the Rebel County, heading up the West Coast up north to Malin Head, back down to Dublin and cutting through the midlands to get back to Leeside armed with a GoPro camera capturing their adventure.

This video shows exactly what Ireland has to offer for tourists and how beautiful this country is. Kearys made this a low budget advert but they made it very effective for viewers to watch and not get bored of it. This short clip by Kearys Cork is nominated for ‘Rich media’ in the Eric Spider Awards, up against four other nominees  http://eircomspiders.ie/shortlist/, .

They received quite a lot of positive feedback about this advert as viewers seem to have enjoyed it immensely. It was amazing about all the promotion they got and all of the awards they were nominated for as they used great images from the GoPro .

#2 Aer Lingus Bringing Home Advantage to Chicago for Ireland V All Blacks

Aer Lingus teamed up with the Irish rugby team in bringing home advantage to Chicago on November 5th. History was made after 111 years that day when Ireland beat the All Blacks. This advert shows the lead up to the time fans and the team fly out. This ad just shows how much great a country Ireland is. We are a small community who love our country and are willing to fly all over the world to support our team.

‘The official airline of the Irish rugby team’ will be transporting thousands of supporters to Paris and London for the games against France and England.  #HomeAdvantage is the national airline’s campaign, backing their partnership with the IRFU, which will be rolled out over the next two months.  The campaign launched today with the first in a series of videos centering on the #HomeAdvantage: wherever we play theme.

The video reflects the bond between the supporters and the team. The supporters make any venue feel like a home game. It’s always a great atmosphere at every game Ireland play.

#3 Guiness Beer Wheelchairs Basketball Commercial

What an inspirational video especially at this time of the year, it really portrays the right messages of friendship giving at all time and a strong message of dedication and loyalty amongst friends.

I think it is amazing that suddenly all but one of the men in wheelchairs unstrap themselves and start walking out of the gymnasium. The narrator continues: “The choices we make reveal the true nature of our character,” as the group head to a bar. As the ad ends, it becomes clear that these able-bodied male friends have chosen to play wheelchair basketball in support of their wheelchair-bound friend.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if everyone could take this message on board, what a better world it would be.

I will be back again next week with another blog post so keep an eye out.

Millennials are mobile first- what marketers need to know

Millennials are mobile first- what marketers need to know

6511727597_c4936266c6

                             What are Millennials?

Millennials are also known as Generation Y.William Strauss and Neil Howe are those cohort between the population of the 1990s and 2000s. Millennials make up 25% of the U.S population. Millennials are the population of my age group between the years 1982-2004. The age group usual varies so it is quite difficult to put a specific age group on it. 53% of millennial households already have children. 1 in 4 Millennials today would be parents. 37% of Millennials are willing to purchase a  product or service if the purchase supports a cause they will be willing to pay more.

Milennials Mobile Usage

Millennials talk about what mobile phones are used for. it’s obvious that Millenials are attached to there mobile phones.

According to Emarketer they made a survey between the age of 13-24 year olds in its definition of Millennials,  45% of smartphone users age between 13-18 years old in US spent 4 hours a day, with 28% logging for over 5 hours on average. Nearly half of 19- 22 year olds spent at least 4 hours a day.

Emarketer have estimated that 88% of US internet users between the age of 12-17 will own a mobile device. 80% of these users will access the internet with the device. Younger users spend more time on social media daily and My.com found that this trend wasn’t restricted to social.

I counted how many times I looked at my phone today for my own personal satisfaction. I checked it 86 times so far today. Most of the time I don’t even realise I’m looking at it which you don’t.

In an article that Forbes wrote they say that Millennials are one of the largest consumers, most brands try to get their attention just to try and win the number games. it is extremely important for them to build early loyalty towards them if they want to keep them as potential lifelong consumers. As college students are making  their own purchase decisions for the first time they want to make sure they are making the right ones to last a lifetime, creating a sustainable revenue stream.

About Alex Moore

Hi I’m Alex Moore. I’m a student in CIT where I am studying Marketing. I have a part time job at the weekends in Penney’s. I got an opportunity to work and train the staff in the Primark store in Downtown Crossing Boston for the Summer. Eight girls from different stores in Ireland got selected to go out of 200 applicants.  I enjoyed every minute of it and I came home with incredible memories and new friends. Boston was an amazing city , it was so easy to get around and the trains are a very handy public transport to use, that is  how we got to work every day. Boston is full of Irish everywhere you go there was an Irish pub or Irish person. Before I came home I went travelling with my friends to Cape Cod, Newport and New York. They were all amazing to visit. I enjoy following bloggers on Facebook and Snapchat such as Just Jordan and So sue me.
